EU citizens: Right to vote

Give EU citizens in the UK and Brits abroad their final say

Britain likes to think fairness and a sense of fair play are core British values. Britain should demonstrate a sense of fair play, especially as the realities of Brexit are decided. Brexit affects everyone with connections to Britain.

Around 3.6 million EU citizens have made their lives in the UK and more than a million British people have chosen to live in Europe. We say give all British citizens and EU citizens resident in the UK an equal say on Brexit in a people's vote.

No Brexit decision without representation

EU citizens and even British citizens who have lived abroad for more than 15 years are denied a vote in general elections and referendums. They were unable to vote in the 2016 EU Referendum. But these are the people whose lives could be most immediately turned upside down by Brexit.

A people's vote on the Brexit deal will require the UK Parliament to pass a specific referendum law. This law could include provisions for extending the vote in a way that is most fair to those most affected by the decision.
